A Few Corrections

I’ve just published updated versions of a few charts to correct errors; in one case it was merely a typographic mistake but in others I had reversed either the loop colors or the over/under weaving pattern in a way that garbled the charts.

My thanks to Allie Hoffman, Brie Zobel, Kathryn Kelly, and Teri Stratford for writing in to let us know about these issues.

If you’ve previously run into problems with any of the “Parallel Chevrons” or “Floating Double Circle” patterns, please accept my apologies and grab a fresh copy from the charts page so that you have the corrected version.

Unfortunately, occasional mistakes like this are hard to avoid in “live” projects like this, where we don’t have a separate editorial team or dedicated test-weavers to double-check our work — so we’re very grateful to those of you who are willing to try out the charts that are marked as “New!” and let us know when something has gone wrong.

If you spot a problem, please do drop us a line, either in a comment on the relevant blog post or by using the Contact Us form — and thanks for being part of our team!

  1. Hi there, I am thrilled to find your Website with free potholder patterns. Thank you. But recently, I printed “Sheila’s Shamrock” pattern which turned out to be a disaster no doubt to my mistakes reading the pattern. Would you please help me as St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching? So far, I have done Etsy seller’s patterns for a twill heart and a twill Christmas tree which I have mastered, even creating gifts for others from them. What confuses me are the vertical and horizontal lines in both the dark and light “boxes” even though I am aware that they mean “under” and “over.” I really need help and any you can provide would be much appreciated. (Maybe leaving out the lines and just using a black box and a white one would work???) Thank you. Best, Ellen

    1. Ellen,

If you’re having trouble reading the chart, try weaving along with one of Margie’s videos and see if it clicks.

      Try this chart here:

In this matching video. Margie spends an hour weaving the design from start to end:

If you have the chart printed out or open on one screen while you play the video on another screen and weave along, maybe the correspondence between the chart, what Margie is doing, and the motion of your hands will “click” and it’ll start feeling natural.

      I hope that helps!

      1. Excellent idea, Matthew! Thank you so much. I will do this very thing then check back in with my progress (fingers but not loops crossed) Regards, Ellen
